My extensive knowledge of the translation industry and financial terminology comes from my experience as an in-house financial translator in organizations such as Goldman Sachs and Richard Gray Financial Translations (RGFT), as well as the past decade as a freelancer working with major asset managers, small and medium-sized brokerages, multinational banks, law firms, translation agencies, and governmental organizations.
I am not an agency. When you work with traductor-financiero.com, you work with me and I am personally reponsible for every aspect of the project. I do not outsource the work to third parties, unless a large project requires further collaborators, but you are notified of every aspect of this arrangement.

I have worked as freelance financial translator for the past seven years and, during that time, I have had the privilege of serving organizations as diverse as: a leading multinational in the field of insurance and asset management; several small-and-medium-sized brokerages in Spain and the United States; the U.S. government's Open Source Center (as an independent contractor); a wide range of translation agencies located in Spain, Great Britain, Belgium and the United States; and many other small and large companies in the financial services sector. Prior to setting up as a freelance translator, I worked as an in-house financial translator at the London headquarters of Goldman Sachs International. After that, I was employed as an in-house translator at Richard Gray Financial Translations (now a part of CLS Communications), also based in London. For several years prior to that, I also served as a translator and subtitler at H.B.O. International.
I hold an M.Phil. in Medieval and Renaissance English literature from the University of Cambridge, an M.A. in English from Boston University and a B.A. in Spanish and Latin American literature from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello.
I am an Associate Member of the American Translators Association .

I can handle a wide variety of file formats to accommodate client needs. The formats with which I am the most familiarized, in order of increasing complexity, are: Microsoft Word (including variants such as .txt and .rtf) and Excel (2000-2003, 2007); Microsoft PowerPoint (XP, 2007); OpenOffice; .pdfs; websites in .html and .xml; and FrameMaker files.

I am also an advanced user of several of the most common productivity-enhancing tools designed specifically for translators including: SDL Trados Studio 2009, SDL's MultiTerm, Wordfast Pro and Wordfast Classic.
Rates are calculated on a per-word basis and also depend upon a number of factors, such as difficulty, format, deadlines, and subject matter. The basic element of information for determining the cost of most projects is the word count (just click on the "Word count" function in Word documents), followed by the deadline and the format of the file.
